On October 27, 2025, the official opening ceremony of a modern geothermal heating plant in Konin on Pociejewo Island with a capacity of 8.1 MW took place. The general designer of the plant was Energoprojekt-Warszawa SA.
The event was attended by, among others, Minister of Climate and Environment Paulina Hennig-Kloska, Deputy Minister of Climate and Environment Krzysztof Galos, Deputy President of the National Fund for Environmental Protection and Water Management Robert Gajda, Director of the Polish Geological Institute Krzysztof Szamałek, and Mayor of Konin Piotr Korytkowski. Representatives of our company were also invited to the ceremony by Sławomir Lorek, President of MPEC Konin.
Energoprojekt-Warszawa SA was involved in the investment from the very beginning – our scope included the implementation of design works covering, among others:
- development of a multi-variant layout concept (2016),
- preparation of a feasibility study (2016),
- preparation of a KIP (Environmental Impact Assessment) and obtaining an environmental decision (2017),
- preparation of a water law report and obtaining a decision (2018),
- preparation of a construction design, including the necessary approvals and obtaining a decision (2018),
- development of complete, multi-disciplinary detailed design documentation, including cost estimates (2018),
- development of a replacement construction design (resulting from the replacement of the GT-2 injection well with the GT-3 directional well) along with the necessary approvals and obtaining a decision (2019),
- author's supervision service during the implementation of the investment (from 2021, when the work began).
As emphasized during the ceremony, the launch of the Konin geothermal plant is an engineering and strategic success, and its independence from weather conditions and the lasting public confidence in renewable energy sources make geothermal energy an exceptionally valuable element of the national energy policy, while supporting economic development and the country's energy security.
